By: Andy Choi

It was a big year, and before kicking off 2023, Up To Speed host Andy Choi recapped all the ways Verizon Business moved the world forward this year.

Find a few moments to reflect, recharge and celebrate you – and then join us on Up To Speed for our 2023 Kickoff with Hans Vestberg and our leadership team on Tuesday, January 3, at 11 AM ET/8 AM PT.

2022 Verizon Business Recap

During small business, or “SMB” days, businesses received complimentary tech evaluations by Verizon Business experts to digitize and scale their efforts. One example was Ohio-based Eden, Inc., which provides solutions to people facing housing insecuritie.... Additionally, business owners were able to grow through Verizon Small Business Digital Ready – a free learning portal that helps take their financial goals to new heights.

Verizon Business premiered BlueJeans Studio to empower the creator economy, offering an all-in-one event production and live streaming platform. Plus, Mobile Edge Computing continued to scale, with Verizon and AWS expanding to 30% more metro area locations with MEC. Verizon came together with Bloomberg Media, Zixi and AWS to test how 5G and edge compute can transform the future of broadcast media. Not to mention, Verizon’s 5G partnership with Audi of America marked Verizon’s first agreement with a global premium automaker for 5G-enabled automobiles.

Our Up To Speed residency took us around the country, including our Boston Hub – complete with a fashion show, courtesy of one of our small business customers. We also went across the pond to check out the London 5G Lab and our EMEA and APAC colleagues who serve Verizon Business customers globally. While there, Verizon Business announced a stadium and venue strategy, deploying WiFi solutions at Manchester Unit...Verizon Business even made its way to the Indianapolis 500, where one of our ‘fastest’ customers, the Penske Corporation, showed us how Verizon connectivity plays a crucial role in the largest single-day sporting event.

Verizon Business continued to bolster its efforts with cybersecurity. Verizon’s 2022 Data Breach Investigations Report highlighted an exceptional year in cybersecurity, amid ransomware attacks year over year being greater than the past five years combined. Verizon’s Mobile Security Index 2022 revealed 45% of companies surveyed suffered a cybersecurity compromise in the past 12 months. We also supported Japan’s FUJIFILM Group, with the advanced security operations center aiming to strengthen its global cybersecurity monitoring and cyber intelligence capabilities.

We also had the privilege of Verizon Frontline being honored as EMS FDNY Help Fund’s “Partner of the Year.”

In June, we paid tribute to long-time Verizon leader Tami Erwin and named Verizon Business’s new CEO, Sowmyanarayan Sampath. And in July, Verizon was awarded more than $400M to expand the FBI’s network infrastructure, data and voice solutions, and a $1.58B Task Order from the Department of State to modernize U.S. embassies around the world.

The Verizon Connect team continued to WOO, WOW and WIN, from the QuickBooks integration to completing a full cloud migration to AWS, plus a partnership with Sawatch Labs enabling new fleet management functions exclusively for electric vehic.... Verizon Connect even launched their AI Dashcam, making it easier to reward good driving and detect unsafe driving habits or crashes.

Verizon also delivered faster connections to 64 Native American reservations in 13 states – a network investment across diverse tribal lands that continues to connect thousands of students in need of connectivity.

In the fall, Verizon launched its Enterprise Intelligence campaign with a look at Associated British Ports, highlighting the role that Verizon’s market leading network and solutions play in driving mission-critical digitization for its customers.

2022 was a year of partnerships for Verizon Business. Alongside Visionable, Verizon Business expanded a healthcare partnership enabling both companies to work on a range of sol...Additionally, Verizon and Lockheed Martin came together to demonstrate 5G-connected Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance capabilities with high speed, low latency drones for the Department of Defense.

In the wake of Hurricane Ian – Verizon Frontline was there to keep first responders connected when they needed it the most, along with a $250,000 donation to support local small business recovery in Florida.

And across America, Verizon Business hosted 5G Innovation Sessions, bringing together innovators and customers to advance their businesses and consumer experiences across industries.

It’s been an incredible year for Verizon Business, setting up for an even better 2023.
