I have my email notifications on my tour set to silent, but they still ring. I do not want any notification of emails arriving. How do I accomplish that.?

Thank you.

Hi,

To set your ringer to silent for notificaiton upon email, do the following:

1. Press the Menu key.

2. Press Sounds

3.  Scroll down and select Set Ring Tones/Alerts

4. Click on Messages to expand.

5. Click on the email account to change (if you have more than one)

6. On Volume: select Silent and Vibration: Off and Notify Me During Calls: NO

7. Press the Menu key and select Save

8. Press the Red End Call key...thats it.

Hope this helps

Thanks for trying. That is exactly how I have the notifications set and it still rings. Even though I have the profile on silent, whatever ring tone is selected (because there is no selection for none) that sounds when I get an email.

Is there something wrong with my tour?

Hey,

Sounds like it is not saving the changes you made to the profile, perhaps.  Try to create a new, custom profile and see if that might work.

I don't know if you have this sound profile my Storm has, it is phone only?

It could be your OS, the Storm had the same issue with the last firmware build, a buddy of mine's would still give him audible notification even with everything set to silent.  How about vibrate, have you tried setting it to that yet and see if it still notifies you?

Thanks everyone. I think it is a software glitch. I read somewhere to try a custom profile --- no luck. I don't want phone only because I want notification of texts. This worked just fine on my 8830, but not now. And, Blackberry won't talk to you without paying.

I had a problem awhile back and Verizon at 800-922-0204  BB Tech ended the call by connecting me directlt to BB Tech and he then tried to solve my problem and gave me in the end a email to send suggestions to them. Page 33 of the Storm manual says they have an escalting ringer volume. Well you try and find one, because it does not have one. He said they left it out of the last OS update and maybe they will put it back if we send enough emails about wanting it. bbsuggestions@rim,net
