Irish_Blues, thank you for a reply that let's me know I'm not alone in my frustration with our carrier. It's almost laugh out loud funny that Verizon had a slogan similar to "rule the air". How can you rule the air if your device isn't running the most current software?

You don't need the most current software to "rule the air" Why do you think F16 and F14s are still in service and they grounded 1/2 the F22s made while stopping production of them? Yet we still "rule the air".

Like I said before. Don't compare overseas with the US on updates. Different processes and it's been proven COUNTLESS times carriers are the least of the problems. Governmental bodies and licensing(WiFi, and Bluetooth for example) takes the longest than ANYWHERE else in the world in the US. This process alone could take up to 6months and it's also dependent on how many other devices were submitted before it, and if it doesn't pass it'll take longer. All Verizon does it test the software.

Tidbits, please don't tell me you're provoking an argument. Rule the air in the wireless realm is extremely different than ruling the air in a division of the armed forces. If software updates are not important to you, I understand. They are important to me and others who realize that through them you gain features, functionality, and fixes that improve the overall experience and productivity of the device you invested in.

In this case, the 10.2 software is beyond testing. It's on the market in the BlackBerry Z30. Your explanation of the testing procedure doesn't clear up the issue what testing needs to be done on an OS that's already in the wild. With all due respect, I hoped to get an answer to that question from a carrier rep. Without that, it seems there's a game being played where those of us eligible for the update are being baited into purchasing a new device with the software pre-installed. I expect better customer support than that and based on some of the repliea here and other forums, I have learned I'm not the only one.

The software on the F16s haven't been updated in 2 years. There's an update out and hasn't been approved yet... And military moves to the front of the line... Just saying...

Believe what you will... Verizon is the least of your worries unlike popular belief. Have a great day.

Just because it's out somewhere else doesn't mean it passes testing. Different frequencies and different hardware means different testing and processes. You think people would learn from android since it's a major abundance of different hardware configurations. Just because this build passes with GSM doesn't mean the CDMA version was submitted and tested at the same time. CDMA has to go through at least 1 more process than the GSM version and it involves Qualcomm. If they take a month or two to certify it then that's a two month delay between the GSM version as an example.

It's not all cut and dry... It has already been explained and beaten with a stick.

One last thing.... Baited to buy devices are bularky...

Here's why regardless of what device you have whether it's an iPhone, BB, Windows Phone, or Android. Carriers make the same amount. If you don't upgrade carriers make even more money because unlike T-Mobile they don't drop the subsidization portion of the contract.

Manufacturers on the other hand... Would be the ones wanting people to upgrade... Think about it. Once the initial sale happens they don't get residual money. They have to sell hardware to keep money coming in.

The proiblem with buying a Z30 is if you have a Z10 or a Q10 for that matter, you are not elligible for an upgrade for two (2) years.  What Verizon should do is allow us to upgrade at the discounted price so we can have the updated software. If they do not want to push the update now, they can at least give us the option to buy the phone at a discounted price.

Sorry. I had access to a pre-release Rogers version of 10.2.1. It's supposedly an "alpha" build but it's extremely stable. Battery life needs a bit of work though.
