Error message 'uncaught exception...'

What does it mean when there's an error message that says 'uncaught exception...process has been terminated'? There's usually a 3 digit number in the middle of the message. What does this mean?

Example: Uncaught exception: Application net_rim_bb_messaging_app(383) is not responding: process terminated.

What apps do you have loaded and is this a Storm? Most uncaught exceptions are caused by an app not playing fair. If this is a storm have you upgraded to .148? This can happen on a Storm if you are typing faster than the letters are showing up on the screen and have not upgraded to the new OS.
