I recently left a position in a company which loaded an IT policy on my personal BlackBerry device. I have upgraded the device software, which removed much of the corporate information, but the IT policy remains and is blocking my ability to clear the required password, etc. How can I remove this policy? Does it require a Security Wipe? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
You will need to get the security password from your old IT department then complete a handheld wipe then the device will become fully functional.
HTH,
This is what you need to do any the IT Policy will be removed.
-Do a full backup first, this method will erase EVERYTHING.
-Connect your blackberry to your computer and make sure you are running the latest blackberry OS as well as desktop version.
-Open up a command prompt (start...run... type "cmd"...enter) and type "cd c:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader" then hit enter.
-verify that you are in that directory and type: "loader.exe/resettofactory" and hit enter
-That should clear out the pesky IT policy...as well as anything else on the phone.
