Does anyone know if the blackberry messenger is free when you travel to Europe?  I have been told that it is free, that it costs 5 cents for each message and that I need to buy a global data plan.

BlackBerry Messenger uses data, so you will want to add a global data plan before you go to avoid hefty data roaming charges.
