Why does my Alltel Razor v3 not have service?

I still have the Alltel plan I had 18 years ago with Verizon.  My Alltel Razor v3 suddenly showed NO SERVICE 3 weeks ago and the store says they don't know why and Customer Service and Chat says they don't know why.  Both tell me to call/go to the other. The phone is fine as new with good battery, contacts and everything in phone works fine.  Anyone know why I have NO SERVICE?  All Verizon wants to do is sell me a new plan.  But what happened to the service.  Many thanks.

As much as we would like to help with the Razor v3, that phone is no longer supported and troubleshooting is very limited. I believe the Razor v3 was a Motorola device. If you still have this Razor, it is possible the Network Band had blown out. It's also possible with the new VZW LTE ADVANCED upgrade on the network, the band that the phone runs off of is no longer supported. Ensure that the device is set to Network Mode CDMA since VZW runs off of CDMA only and not GSM or UMTS.

Other than that, your out of luck. Try a Factory Data Reset.

Best of luck.

You do realize that troubleshooting a 10 year old phone is just.....unreasonable right?

It IS possible the phone just no longer works. Just because it has a good battery, contacts and everything in phone works fine that the radio in the phone which connects to the cellular signal has stopped working.

Sometimes, electrical connections break, solder inside the phone deteriorates or breaks from all the movement(dropping, bumping, etc,,,) of the phone and a phone which was released over 13 years ago has had a LOT of time for this to happen. The fact that service "suddenly" stopped working makes it sound even more so that a connection or part inside the device has failed.

That wasn't my question.  So what you are saying is you also don't know.

No, my comment was just the cliffs notes version of what the others said, which was eloquently written by the way. Itaking simply time for you to get a new, modern phone. You could also buy a used razr on eBay for 10 bucks or so, but be in the same situation next month.

When was the last time you updated the PRL (preferred roaming list)?

While the information in this article didn't affect basic phones at the time, I wonder when they would require basic Alltel phones to be switched to a Verizon Wireless branded device. http://www.droid-life.com/2012/07/30/verizon-will-begin-shut-down-of-remaining-alltel-data-network-i...

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
