hello, my sister is looking to get one of this phones through ebay, as there is no good phone offered through verizon. She wants to know if they require any data package or not? As she is not able to afford to pay the $10 or $30 data packages they offer and because there is no really info about this right now.
So does anyone know if they require it. As we don't want to buy something and then have to return it because of this.
So I saw another topic that had this phone that Costco is selling: Samsung SCH-U370, so this one does not need the $10 data plan and can be registered without one.
She doesn't want to pay any data.

Great phone. Lame to require data on it.
It's not a smartphone, but according to Verizon it's not a feature phone- they call it a "Multi-Media Phone"...a hold-over that will forever make it too expensive- even if you buy it from ebay or craigslist...
We did buy the Samsung U370 at Costco.
It is a re-branded Samsung Reality, but does NOT require a data plan. It has worked well so far.
