Samsung Reality vs. Samsung u370?

Much like the Zeal vs. Alias 2, Verizon is yet again releasing a clone of a previous *Samsung* phone...I think.

I'm directing this question to Verizon employees as much as anyone else...are there any differences between the Samsung Reality and the Samsung u370?  They appear to be exactly the same, my only guess is the u370 is going to be coded as a feature phone so it won't require data...the Samsung Reality, as any of its owners should know, is a multimedia phone that will forever require the $10 web package.

The Samsung Reality and the Samsung SCH-U370 are in fact very similar devices and the main difference between these two phones is that the Samsung SCH-U370 is not Mobile Broadband Connect (no tethering) capable, also note that the SCH-U370 does not require a data plan. Please keep in mind that the Samsung Reality has been retired and is no longer available. Additionally, the Samsung SCH-U370 is only available from third party retailers and cannot be ordered from Verizon Wireless channels.

I've called Verizon and went to the store and they claim to have never heard of it, but it's being sold through Costco for Verizon. Here's the link at Costco's site for the SCH-U370:  http://membershipwireless.com/index.cfm/go/shop/do/PhoneDetails/productid/4089

Does anyone have this phone yet?    I went to my local Cosco to check it out but they did not have it activated.  I could not check the call quality because of this. Call quality of hearing and what others hear on the opposite end seem to differ an all the feature phones I checked out in a bigger Verizon store.  This phone seemed like a decent feature phone with good touch screen response and meets the basic needs of calling and texting functions though.

I wonder how good the pictures are from this camera.  My one need for a new phone right now is a really good camera that is atleast as good as the LG Dare.

Any updates on the U370 are appreciated.

Ok, went to Costco today and played with the Samsung U370 for a whole hour to see how it really measured up.

Verdict: It's everything the Reality was without the data requirement and it only costs $10.

And, if you're a VZW employee and you're looking for technicalities that would make it less desirable, it can't be tethered.

But, since no one really cares about tethering in the first place, it's back to being the Reality the way it was meant to be priced- WITHOUT A MANDATORY DATA PLAN.

Ok, so I'm going to get this phone for sure- it's easily the best Verizon feature phone available.

If you are frustrated with the current offerings, this is the phone for you.

Here's how to make it happen:

1)  I spoke to 3 different Costco employees, just to make absolutely sure, and each one of them told me that I could purchase the phone as long as I was with a Costco member.  They will not be attached the renewing of your contract IN ANY WAY AT ALL.

2)  So, if you don't have a Costco membership, find someone you know who does to take you into the store.

3)  If you don't know anyone who has a Costco membership, just stand outside the store and offer people a few bucks to take you in with them- it's well worth it.

4)  Simply hand the Costco member ~$10 plus whatever you're paying them for their assistance and they pay with their credit card at the register.

5)  Everyone is squared away, and you've walked out of Costco with a compelling feature phone that has advanced capabilities, no data requirement, and a renewed contract for 2 years w/ Verizon.

6)  Verizon misses opportunity to pick up repeat mobile device business

7)  You didn't get ripped off and you're happy.

Hey Soma...so, I was looking at the device on Costco's website and the device they've got in the store and it appears that the metallic rims of the two are different.

Online, the U370 has a jet-black glossy finish.

In the store, the U370 has a darker ice-blue glossy finish.

To me, the difference will make or break the phone.  A Costco employee there suggested that maybe it was just the lighting of the photo, but looking below, there's just no way that's possible.

So, I assume that by now you've got your phone in hand and can verify which color the rim is for the U370 customers can order online...

Here's what the online metallic rim looks like (it's unmistakably jet-black):

Your reply is MUCH appreciated!!!

When you get this phone, can you let me know if you were able to get ringtones on it without buying them from the VZW store?  I used to do it via picture message, but those sound terrible now.  Any help is appreciated!!
