Samsung Intensity III – Importing pictures to PC – Anyone has problem?

Is there someone who managed to import pictures from Samsung Intensity III to a PC without any problem? Using the USB cord, it should be easy like 1-2-3. Right?

I can’t import and don’t know if this is a problem with the phone or with my PC.

Any information is appreciated.

I don't believe it is possible, but you can search up your phone on vzw.com and open a user manual. It will tell you there how to do it, if it's possible.

What happens on your phone when you plug it into the PC? Are you prompted to set USB mode?

(1) For using the USB cable and the phone's USB Mass Storage option (menu -> tools -> USB Mass Storage), we have needed two things for our LG, Casio, and Samsung brand basic phones: a memory card and a driver

And I agree with what Droid Usrr said. Go to 'menu' -> 'settings & tools' -> 'USB Mode' and select 'Modem Mode'

The default setting is 'Media Sync Mode' which causes the phone and the computer to try to use something called MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) to transfer stuff.

We've downloaded all our drivers from http://vzam.net/download/download.aspx

But there isn't a driver listed for the Intensity series of phones (U450, U460, U485).

But our Windows OS offers an option to uninstall a driver. So maybe there would not be any harm in downloading, installing, and trying one of the other Samsung drivers from that link such as the driver available  for this group of phones:

"Samsung A850, A930, A990, U540, U550, U620, U640, U810, U820, U940, U960"

Also, for the previous model the Intensity II, Samsung does not mention a driver in their instructions for how to transfer pictures. So maybe the manufacturer does not think a driver is necessary for the Intensity series of phones ?

(2) You could transfer the pictures to a memory card, and then use a memory card reader for your computer for the memory card.

(3) Bluetooth.

I've been able to transfer pictures between the phone and the computer using the Bluetooth of the phone and of the computer

(4) Verizon has a service called VCAST Media Manager that, I think, is supposed to let you transfer pictures without a usb cable. I have not used it because it is or used to be compatible with only certain phones. VCAST Media Manager is still available to use. But Verizon combined it with Backup Assistant. Verizon calls this combination Backup Assistant Plus. To transfer pictures with it, you'll need to download some software to your PC.

Hi, thanks for helping me.

I was able successfully installed a device driver software and updates, on my PC.

At the end I got a message: “Your device is ready to use”

Next, I was trying to import pictures from my phone to my PC. I came to the point that I got a window: “Import pictures and video”. The picture was shown. But, when I click ‘Import’ I got a message: “Unable to start importing pictures due to following error: 80004005”

I googled this error and…..I gave up. I am just a ‘user’, not IT wise. I am afraid of screwing something on my PC.

Yesterday I purchased a memory card and I have installed in my Samsung Intensity III.

Using a card reader I was trying to transfer my contacts and the pictures to my PC.

All folders were shown in my computer (Removable Disc) – but all of them were empty.

I never had a phone with a memory card. I am probably doing something wrong.

One time I removed the memory card and………my all contacts just disappeared form my phone. I had no idea what happened. I almost got a heart attack. I went to the VZW store. They explained to me that first I must turn the phone off and then remove the card.  I had no idea about it. They transferred my contact back to my phone, but I had to redo all my settings. Yehhh. So, I learned one thing about a memory card the hard way.

You have to take into consideration that I am only a user of the phone, but I am open to learning.

If you can explain how to transfer my contacts (if it is possible) and pictures from the phone to PC by using a memory card, I would greatly appreciate.

Good afternoon edis54.

I can certainly assist you with steps on how to transfer pictures to your PC, using your memory card.

1. Access photo from "My Pictures" and choose "Options."
2. Select "Move" or "Transfer."
3. Remove memory card and insert card and card reader in USB port.
4. Go to your file directory on the PC. Transfer files to the folder of your choice.

I hope this is helpful.

Thank you,

Thanks. I did it.

Before removing the memory card from the phone, should the phone be turned off?

Once happened to me; when I removed the memory card from my phone, when the phone was ‘on’, all my contacts and pictures have disappeared from the phone.

I had similar problems with Intensity III. It turned out that the phone downloaded some software onto my computer that interfered with other functions. It kept sending me messages that my phone software was up to date but wouldn't permit any other data exchange. After deleting that program, the USB function worked as advertised. WinXP just sees phone and memory chip as more hard drives and files can be transferred via Win Explorer.

After weeks of fighting with the Intensity III, including one replacement phone and more trips to the Verizon store than I can recall, I swapped it for a Convoy 2 -- a phone that actually has functions that I want without all the crap that I don't. That fact that a more basic phone -- Convoy 2 -- sells for $40 more than the Intensity III with all its many gadgets should indicate what a turkey the I-3 really is.

The Verizon store manager waived the $35 restocking fee and got me a certified used Convoy for a total cost of $37 (tax included). A saving of $3 off sticker but at much cost to my sanity.
