Re: New Feature Phones Anytime Soon?

I want a flip phone that has a camera of at least 2 megapixels.  No touch screens, no qwerty keyboards.  No cheap phones meant for a 12 year old or a senior citizen, no cheap plastic crap, and no construction worker/military spec phone.  I want something like the LG dLite, or Wine II, or the Razr.

The physical quality of "basic phones" has significantly declined in the past 3 years.  And remarketing the same crap you have now and calling it a new phone does not cut it.  If it truly were a "new phone" it would have features that make it stand out, and they are all same, with nearly identical specs.

Verizon has doomed the "basic" phone community. I am on a family plan, and we cannot afford the exuberant prices for five unlimited smart phone plans- because really, who doesn't use up the smaller amounts quickly...? The "New Basic Phones" are not happening. Check out the latest phones.

The feature phones have been released by about four different companies in the last couple years, and their features have gone all but extinct! They also seem to just be renaming old phones or re-releasing them. They're cutting the lifeline of those of us who want an affordable phone with good features and good service. Is that too much to ask? No wonder the Basic phones have been selling less. Verizon is monopolizing the network, allowing our feature phones to be unsatisfactory, and killing them off so that in a few years they will be gone! Whereas the smartphones have boomed! It's a bit sad. These are the different- not the ones that are unavailable or certified preowned- phones that are available on the current Verizon site. This is NOT RIGHT in my opinion. We shouldn't have our minds made for us, what happened to that excellent customer understanding that Verizon used to have. If theirs was a worse network, we would have made the switch years ago. Get better phones or loose good customers!

The Casio Ravine 2 was just released. But beware that it lacks a music player. This was confirmed by a few people on another forum who just received it.

In the words of Professor Farnsworth, Good News Everyone!

It tentatively looks like there will be a successor to the Samsung Reality/u370.

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Verizon-data-plan-DROID-iPhone-Android,news-13439.html#xtor=RSS-999 "He also predicts a continual shift away from feature phones and into smartphones." So are they finally going to offer smart phones without a data plan? What if I can't/don't want to pay for data?

Then you won't have a cell phone.

I know, it would be HORRIBLE if I could have something for $20-$30 a month for light calling and texting lol

I highly doubt "basic" phones will completely go away. You can get prepaid daily use and unlimited texting for that kind of a price as long as you're not calling everyday.

just noticed that the Octane has been reduced to free on Verizon's site. It has been 100 bucks for the longest time. Is it getting ready to be replaced or is this just V's Chritmas cheer for the little folks?
