No the shut down problems for enV2 and env3 have not been fixed. Verizon continues to insist there is no problem.

Mine is the Kingston Micro SDHC, class 4.

Ah, Gotcha, Mojave.  You're right about that, in fact, the thing LG posted in that thread was an exact copy (partial) of what they sent me in the e-mail.

Thanks for the ideas, there is a 2 inside the circle. However I learned something else tonight. Since I am a glutton for punishment I decided to try the card again, much to my joy the phone didn't shut off and I thought all might be good - not quite. I tried taking a couple of pictures and tried sending them and/or saving them - no luck. Funny thing though what happened matches one of the issues that VX920V05 software update supposedly fixes "With a 2GB or 4GB memory card inserted, and trying to take a picture, then send, it says 'FAILED'. Then the picture you tried to send, stays in the background and the new picture you're trying to take, overlaps the old frozen one in the background." Now I mentioned in my original post I am not anxious to do software updates (From what I've read even V06 updates haven't fixed the shutdown problem), so I may just have to try an 8GB card. I have never had any problems with my 2GB though, I am just needing more space. I wonder why the LG support person couldn't have known this instead of telling me to contact Verizon for compatible cards?

Thanks!

Based on the little bit I know, 'microsdhc' mostly applies to microsd cards with a storage capacity of 4gb or greater. I say "mostly" because wikipedia says this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicroSD

"Almost all cards with sizes over 2 GB are SDHC cards although some early 4GB SD Cards are not classified as SDHC [citation needed]"

Here's something that I thought is interesting about the current Verizon non-smartphones that supposedly are compatible with cards up to 16gb; Samsung's website says this about their Verizon Alias2:

http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/faqs/faqs_view_us.jsp?SITE_ID=22&PG_ID=0&AT_ID=154209&PROD_S...

"Although the maximum size supported is a 16GB microSDHC memory card, for optimal performance Samsung  recommends a memory card no larger than 2GB"

I have another idea for you. Perhaps what could be creating the problem is either the particular FAT used (FAT16 versus FAT32] or the cluster size that you can specify while using Windows to format the microsdhc card.

I stumbled upon this thread which comes up with some interesting suggestions:

http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board/message?board.id=sansafuse&thread.id=5849

And on this page they suggested using 32K byte block allocation size:

http://forums.sandisk.com/sansa/board/message?board.id=sansafuse&thread.id=5849&view=by_date_ascendi...

But Kingston makes this suggestion:

http://www.kingston.com/support/FLASHMEMORYCARDS/mediaGeneral3.asp

"The format utility used for removable flash cards 64 MB or above is set by default to use the FAT32 file system. Most cameras and portable devices will not accept media that has been formatted to the FAT32 file system"

And other people in that thread suggested the problem with microsdhc cards and their media player had to do with the brand of the card.

I don't know what the difference is, but one of the threads at that Sandisk forum mentioned a second Sandisk forum:

http://communities.sandisk.com/

I took a quick look, and there is a lot of discussion there about microsdhc cards.

He didn't elaborate, but someone at the previous Sandisk forum said not to use the Windows 'Quick Format' option.

Also, besides using the phone and Windows to format the microsdhc card, I've come across several times mention of a utility that can also format the card: "HP Disk Storage format tool"

I thought the latest version was 6?  Did I miss something since I got my phone after Christmas?  Mary

MojaveMoon,

Thanks again for the links. I checked them out, downloaded the software and it couldn't recognize the card. Out of curiosity I tried the regular windows format, which automatically showed the card was full with 0 available space and would/could not format, then out of more curiosity I tried it in my digital camera, which could not read nor format the card. At this point I am going to assume the card is bad and return it for a replacement and start over - hopefully that is the case. I will post again and let you know the outcome. I really appreciate all the help from everyone!
