LG Chocolate Touch turns self off then on and is locking up

My phone just started shutting itself off then right back on over and over again.  Then it is locking up.  Even shut itself off in the middle of a call.  Not getting text msgs either.  Took the battery out but didn't help.  Any ideas?

Sorry for the troubles you're having with your phone as of late. With the phone turning off, it could be a problem with the phone, or the phone itself. The problem may also be the connection between the two. The first step I recommend would be to clean the contacts (metal areas on the phone and the battery). You can do this with a dry cotton swab. If that does not resolve the matter, you may consider a new battery, which would be the final troubleshooting step. If the phone continues to power off or freeze, you will most likely need a replacement device.

I am having the same problem. I took it to the store & was told unless they actually see it happens, there was nothing that could be done. Less than 20 minutes of me leaving the store, it done it again.  I then called costumer service. The rep I spoke with was actually pretty nice & offered to send me another device out of the same kind. What he failed to tell me was that I would be getting a pre-ceritified like new device & it does not come with a back nor a replacement battery. If the response you got was it may be the phone itself, that is untrue, because the replacement phone I have is doing the same thing. Now he also told you it might be the battery, so before you get the replacement phone, make sure they are going to send you a NEW BATTERY, because as I said before, I replaced my phone, and is still getting the same results. But it is still the OLD BATTERY Good Luck!

My son just had the same problem with his LG phone.  I called tech support and they couldn't help us.  So we went to our local Verizon store for help.  The customer service rep knew exactly what the problem was.  He said that Facebook has changed the way they send out status updates and when LG phones try to download the text message, the phone freezes and turns off.  He had my son go into facebook and stop the mobile notifications.  He switched the number to a different phone that was not LG so that he could download the text messages and then switched the number right back to my son's phone.  The phone has worked like a charm ever since.  They said there have been a lot of people with this problem on their LG phones.  So if you receive facebook notifications, that is probably your problem.
