Ford Sync and Selecting a Phone

I just got a 2011 Ford Focus and it has the Sync feature, which is amazing.  I am due for a new phone in the next couple of weeks and am trying to decide what to get based on what is fully compatable.  The compatability chart on the Sync website sucks, as it clealry isn't updated frequently enough.  I do not want a smartphone because I do not want to pay for a data package.

Does anyone have a non smartphone that they have confirmed works well with the Sync?

We have a 2010 F150 and 2011 Fusion, both w/Sync, which is awesome once you read how to use it. We have no data plan, only unlimited texting because of the 2 kids. We had env 2's, which we replaced last week. My Casio Ravine (flip phone) and her LG Octane each works flawlessly in each vehicle. Just follow owner's manual instructions for pairing your phone to your car. I hope this helps

Best Buy has a great support page for phones that work well with Sync.

That Best Buy compatibility list says the Droid Incredible is compatible, but it isn't.  I've spent hours with the Ford people, as well as Verizon tech and Best Buy Geek Squad trying to sync it with no success.

The majority of phones pair with Sync with the phone searching for Sync and then doing the pairing process.  Some smartphones actually wait for the Sync system to find them.  Try this with your Incredible, because I was able to pair mine with my mother's Explorer with no problems.

Best Buy may have a good list of what is supposed to pair with your vehicle, but that is as far as it goes. Their sales people have absolutely no clue as to getting the phone and the car Sync'd together. I have a 2010 Ford Focus and I even bought a new phone for the new card and noone fro the Ford dealer, Verizon or Best Buy was ever able to Sync the phone and it was the recommended phone on the list I received from both Ford and Verizon. I'm about wondering if it's worth all this headaches.  Oh, to actually answer your question, my current phone is not a smart phone and all by my self, following the cars vocal directions I got it linked up, but it only stayed linked for about 2 days and for some strange reason, it unlinked byitself and reverted back to being "Normal"  Sorry, this really didn't help you very much.
