So the Chocolate Touch is now considered a feature phone instead of a multimedia phone?

According to the Verizon Employee message I am replying to the Chocolate Touch is a feature phone and the data package is not required. This message was from March, and the Chocolate Touch is no long even available through Verizon. If I have a Verizon Chocolate Touch phone that a friend gave me, I can activate it now without it requireing a data package. Correct?

When did they take the data off the ENV3? So I can now give that to someone if I want and they won't need the $9.99 data plan when they activate it? Mary

According to this post on the prepaid forum you need the $10 data plan and a monthly package, can't use daily. Mary

I just cancelled my service after 15 years over this. I got the LG Chocolate Touch a year and a half ago and was told it requires the data plan because it was a smart phone. During this time I have used less than 1mb of data and have requested numerous times to have the data removed. I have been told that at least the $9.99 data plan is required on this device. I have a coworker with the same phone and he does not pay any data. I just went to a verizon store last week and the rep said she can absolutlely remove the data. After a half hour of trying she was unable to remove the data from my plan.

Hello drams, and thanks to all community members that have contributed to this thread! I can certainly appreciate how this would trouble you! I'm sorry that we lost your service over this issue because I would liked to have been able to make this change for you. Data features are optional on VZW's basic function phones, and the Chocolate Touch is among them. Again, I regret your experience and hope that you will consider us as a provider for you again.

When did this start? I've been paying for a data package for 2 of these phones for the last 19 months! I will be extremely disappointed that Verizon didn't notify us of a more economical way to use our account since my husband has never once accessed any data the entire time he has had this phone. He only got it because it was free when I got mine. We've been with Verizon for over 15 years! With such fierce wireless competition out there I would think they would be tracking their long time customers to advise them of the best packages available based on their current usage.

I have the same exact phone and I pay $9.99 for the data plan on the Chocolate Touch Phone. The only difference is my monthly fee is $39.99. Don't know if that makes a difference but...............be careful because if you have anyone of their e-mail systems that they offer they charge you a data charge for each and every e-mail. Personal or any other type and they offer the initial e-mail free but not the data connected to those hundred of e-mails. It's all a very well orchestrated game!
