Asurion has sent me 4 defective phone in a row. This is effecting my wife’s business as a cosmetologist. Our first phone would drop calls every 10-30 seconds. The second phone wouldn’t connect to WiFi. The third phone went back to dropping calls. This last phone we got won’t let her go off of her data if there wasn’t WiFi around. This is hurting our business. Verizon needs to crack down on Asurion and/or have multiple phone insurance providers. If we can’t get a new phone we will walk to another phone provider, I’m definitely canceling our phone insurance after this. It’s not worth the lost business.

Alan1996, it is troubling to hear about the results you have been having with your replacement devices. Your feedback is always welcome and encouraged. We would be devastated to lose you as a valued customer over this situation. We also understand your concerns about how your wife's business is being impacted. We're here to help in any way we can. Asurion is the insurance provider for all major cellular carriers, so we want to help turn this situation around. Have we done any kind of troubleshooting on the most recent device to make sure it has been activated correctly to your account? Is she receiving any kind of error message when she tries to connect? Are calls and texts being impacted on this phone?

Alan1996, this is not a typical experience. We strive to get you back in business as fast as possible which means we do use both new and certified-like-new devices in order to provide this service. The device sent is based on what is available at the time you file your claim. Rest assured, all replacements come with a 1 year limited warranty. You can contact us at 8663976498.

I bet this is VERY typical of Asurion. We've made a claim and received a phone replacement. It lasted 15 min, and died. The phone can not be brought back according to Asurion techies. Interestingly it is full of personal data and credit information.  What happens when they do bring it up. I wonder how much they will keep or sell of that data?  And now I'm reading that this is a common experience. 4 phones Alan1996 and still not a working phone?!?

And I begin to think, I paid $199 for a refurbished phone. I'm still paying on my 'brand new from June' phone that I won't be able to keep. Even tho it works, and just needs a repair.  But Verizon now has no interest in repairing phones.  They will just collect monthly money from us to send us to Asurion who will replace it with an obviously cheaply refurbished technology for the fair price of $199. And, Asurion takes my good fairly new phone, for free and repairs it, and sells it to the next bidder for another $199+.  Pretty good gig.

I believe I'm going to keep my broken but working good phone, try to get my data off this garbage of a phone they sent me, and send that back and ask for my $199 back. I'll cancel the insurance and use the money to pay Apple to fix my GPS antenna, since Verizon doesn't care to.

You think the other carriers care about repairing phones?

Nope. But Applecare will do repairs and replacements with Apple parts. Other carriers will not either. But, I can say Verizon WAS doing repairs, on screens and a battery cuz they did for us 'back in the day'

Pretty sure this is typical for Asurion. I am also on my 4th defective replacement phone from the fraudulent business. The first replacement had a broken volume button, the second had defective GPS/antenna, the third had a broken speaker and now the fourth has defective GPS/antenna.

I understand Verizon's point -- Asurion is the insurance provider for many or all of the major cellphone providers - but how can Verizon continue to bundle it into its phone sales package when there are so many complaints about the business?
