I saw the promotion yesterday while looking into possibly upgrading my device. Obviously I think it was a good deal but wanted to read up on the 5c a bit before making a decision. Came back to order it and the promotion was nowhere to be found. I feel a bit like Verizon is pulling the wool over my eyes...which is a bit ironic since the deal claimed to be a directed at my family's long term loyalty to Verizon.

I've taken it up the ladder and emailed the President of Marketing, the President of the West region, where I am and the VP of the West region. Let's see if that gets anywhere. From the research I've done so far on this it looks like MANY Verizon customers have had this same issue. I'm hoping the fact is they, upper management, is unaware of this issue rather than knowing about it and not doing anything. If I get a reply back I will let everyone know.

Hello MC44, we absolutely want you to be able to take advantage of any and all discounts/promotions available! Promotions are subject to change and expire daily. We can absolutely take a closer look and review the account details. Can you please follow me and send us a direct message to dive deeper? Thanks!

Good for you for taking it higher. I wish I would have thought of that sooner. Anytime you talk to someone with customer service, they say no one higher up the chain is authorized to give the free phone even though that's what they advertised. Hopefully you get somewhere with them. Yes, I've seen many others who have been scammed as well. Not good advertising for Verizon. It almost seems though, like they are "too big to fail."

The fact of the matter is a Verizon rep is very quick to respond to someone on this thread explaining you want us to take advantage of discounts/promotions and then refuse to get back to us or worse, keep telling us to call back in a few days. You say promotions are subject to change and expire daily; however, the promotion I saw didn't expire until June 30, 2014 and yet it is no where to be found. If we saw the promotion and called about it, chatted about it, or had it in our cart then called for help because the promotion was going through, you need to follow through and honor that. Instead, you are stringing everyone along and scamming customers, many who have been with you for over a decade. Nice way to show your appreciation for a customer's loyalty and business. And nice for you to appear to want to help us but lack to follow through.

ChristinaB from verizon was helping me on the weekend. Apparently she is looking into things but I haven't heard from her since Sunday. I have emailed her to follow up and have not received a response. Anything you can do to help? Thanks.

update: I am putting together an email to go to various websites, blogs, news outlets & competitors of Verizon titled "Verizon Bait and Switch"
i'm hoping that some media coverage will help us all get our free Iphone 5c's, or at least prevent Verizon from wasting anyone else's time / getting their client's hopes up then not following through.
if you have any ideas on where/who to send the email to, please let me know.

So I had a lady named Crystal who said she was an executive from Verizon corporate who had my email forwarded to her from the President of West Coast operations call me yesterday. She basically gave me the same run around as the four previous reps I dealt with. They cannot see that promotion anywhere on my account nor can they see any notes from any reps stating I talked to them about it. When I told her that it wasn't just me it was a lot of their customers and the forum was full of examples she merely stated she would have their IT team look for issues. She did however offer to opt me out of our contract early to get the no contract "deal" on the phones. I'm not going to do that though. I will let it ride out, it's only until October, then switch to another carrier and get a free phone from them. VZW_Jennie I hope you have luck with those correspondence to the media outlet. Please let us know how that goes.

Ok so heres my update to my original post. After almost 2 weeks, numerous calls and hours of talking to a different person every time I finally have resolution. I called this morning as no one text or called me back as promised from my previous call. After 90 mins of speaking to 3 different people and being told that the promotion was over and they could do nothing for me but to waive the $30 activation fee. I said that was not good enough and insisted I speak with a supervisor. Once on the phone with the supervisor I explained to her what was going on she informed me that she did not know why the rep told me the promotion was over when it was not up till June 30 2014. She was able to order the phone for me and waive the cost of the phone as she couldn't get the promotion to come up on my account(note: they did know it had come up on my account previously as the manager and rep at the time saw it and annotated it in their notes on my account and I had a screen shot of the promo as well if needed). She did tell me that the reps dont have the ability to have done this. This was a matter of principle to me and that is why I pursued the issue, I could have paid for the phone 10 times over by all the time invested in phone calls to verizon wireless. So now I await the new Iphone 5C 32gb in the mail and will be inspecting my billing to ensure they did not charge me for it as I see in other forum post that has happened. Thanks for everyones comments and I hope you are successful, just try not to allow your frustrations with this to penetrate thru the phone to the recipient of your calls.
