Hello. I have downloaded the WhatsApp on my Apple iPhone. Am I correct in understanding that I can use this app to text, audio call, or video call anyone in the world with no charge to me by Verizon regardless of what service and/or phone the recipient of my text or call may have? Thank you.

That is correct as long as you are in the US you are only using your data package. If your on Wi-Fi then you not using your VZW data package of course.
If you leave the US and are roaming you would be using data, if not on Wi-Fi, which could be billed to you in accordance with your data plan..
What's App is a great. I use it occasionally.
