Unable to activate iPhone 6 Plus

Hi. Just came over to Verizon from T-Mobile. I want to bring my iPhone 6 Plus and I got a SIMS card to activate however when I attempted to activate I got an error message indicating "SIMS Not Supported".  I called T-Mobile to see if they could unlock the phone. They advised it could take up to 14 days. However I was looking at the discussion on this board and one of the questions was Can I use my T-Mobile iPhone for Verizon and the answer was no due to the different technologies.

Is this true?  Will I have to get a new phone with Verizon cause my current phone will not work?

DEEDEE1076, making sure that you have the right model phone is important. You've come to the right place for help. The key is to ensure that you have an iPhone model that supports our LTE and CDMA bands for compatibility first, then you will also want to ensure you previous carrier has unlocked your device if it is carrier locked. The link found below goes over the differences found between the different models. Please look at the back of your phone to check and see if you have an A1522 (CDMA version) or A1524

The other models are not compatible with our network as they are primarily GSM based, which is what T-Mobile utilizes. You may want to consider using our device trade in service for credit towards a new phone model. Learn more here: https://www.verizonwireless.com/digital/promos/device-trade-in#/
