Asurion keeps accusing me of not sending in my broken phone. Both by mail and by phone. Yet, I called and they now say they received it 3 days after I sent it in. Why am I receiving these notices?  This insurance company is very bad, and the deducible for a broken screen was very high, twice that of apple. All I want to do is pay off this phone and go somewhere else. This upgrade phone plan does not work.

You don't need to use Asurion, and can always get your phone fixed by Apple.   Why pay the $199 deductible when you should just get the phone fixed by Apple for $129?

If I'm not mistaken it's even cheaper than that to have apple repair screens now. They did a price drop

If you have AppleCare + then it is only $29 for screen repair.

$129 or $149 if you do not have AppleCare +

LINBUR3, we value you as a customer and don’t want to lose you. I’m sorry to hear that you’re being contacted by Asurion even though you’ve already sent the phone back. Besides your experience with Asurion, what has you wanting to leave?

Hi LINBUR3, back in July I had cracked the screen on a iPhone 6s Plus 128 GB which still retailed at that time for $949. I had it repaired for $149 at an Apple Store, they informed me that if I had taken Apple Care for $99 when I purchased the iPhone the repair would have cost much less, along with a 2 year warranty.

I have Asurion at $11 per month with a $200 deductible, which I didn't use. So with my next purchase of a iPhone I will definitely get the Apple Care.

But let me point out, there is one advantage with Asurion that Apple Care does not provide. And that is" loss or theft". So if the iPhone is high end I will next time take both protections. Weth & kaebfly have made excellent post on the new pricing.

And hopefully you don't throw Verizon under the bus over a cracked screen they are a great wireless provider, regards Salisbury

I have been a Verizon customer for over 20 years. I have always had Asurion and have only had to use it twice, and both times were a TOTAL nightmare.    The first time I had to use them was year ago. I dropped my Apple 6 in water. I did as they told me... But, they send you a '" Refurbished " phone... It never worked from the day I got it, so I sent it back... Now I am going 2 weeks without a phone... The 2ND. Refurbished phone comes, within a week it too was messing up, Now I send it back! 3 weeks have gone by... Now, comes the 3RD. Refurbished phone, it too was not working correctly, the volume was not working well.  By this time, I am so frustrated, had gotten into many confrontations with Asurion, that I was ready to leave Verizon!  The new Apple 7 was , thankfully released a month after all this happened.  I did NOT buy my phone from Verizon, went straight to Apple, because I wanted ApppleCare.   I now see that you are able to get AppleCare with Verizon, this is wonderful...... Just STAY AWAY from Asurion. I know I am not the only person that can tell you how terrible it is to deal with this company....   My husband is now due to upgrade his phone, we will once again buy from Verizon, will be our carrier, but NO Asurion ever again!

AppleCare+ has been available from Verizon for awhile now if I'm not mistaken (I may be wrong but I could have sworn it was available when the iPhone 6 released...or maybe the 6s). At any rate, please understand that you will also receive refurbished replacements with AppleCare just as you would with Apple's manufacturers warranty...but my experience has been that their refurbished units work like new. Not to mention I've had nothing but positive experiences with Apple and their customer care.
