My phone had a carrier settings update and once I did that, I was able to activate my watch.

I got my watch on Friday and tried to activate but much like many people I couldn’t. Yesterday (Saturday), I called customer service once again this time they said I have to talk to a business specialist since I have a business account and that was the issue. I called again today (Sunday), and was able to get a knowledgeable rep, after an hour of being on the phone I got my watch activated. I bought mine at the Apple store and still got the activation waved and the first 3 months free. You only get charged the taxes though. I only have one issue, I still don’t get text messages. Internet and calls work. Hoping I get it sorted out tomorrow.

Btw, I got mine at the Apple store since I couldn’t order it from the Verizon online store. I chatted with a rep and he said I had to buy an iPhone 8 in order to get my watch to work with LTE.

@DavidH_VZW, are you able to actually do something about this?  So far my many phone calls with Verizon reps has resolved nothing

I am still unable to activate my Apple Watch on my cellular plan. I get the following error messages when I attempt:

"Account Type Issue- Sorry, Number Share Extensions cannot be added on Government accounts."

I have a business plan for my business and I am not a "Government Account" by any stretch of the imagination

"Device not added- Sorry, we can't this device at this time."

Multiple attempts throughout the weekend and still as of Monday no success.

I'm glad to see your were able to get the watch set up. My regret is that it took longer than expected. What happens when you send a text message, SeaDweller?

 

1. From the Home screen, tap the Messages app icon.


2. Press firmly on New Message.


3. Tap Add Contact.


4. Tap the Contacts icon (lower-left) then choose a contact from your address book.
NoteAlternatively, you can tap a recent contact.


5. Dictate a message then tap Send.

Well I thought all was well but I woke up this morning to discover that although my watch is activated on cellular, it somehow has a different number than my phone??

Let's do all we can do to get your Apple Watch activated, sacbut34. It has come to our attention that Apple sells a WiFi only version of the watch where we have been seeing activation issues. If you have the WiFi only version from the Apple store or www.apple.com, you can activate the watch via Bluetooth/WiFi only.

If that does not work, you can check into exchanging the watch for the cellular version.
