Connecting to a Computer
Connect your device to a computer to transfer data between
your device and the computer. Use the USB cable that comes
with your device, or use one of the pre-loaded apps on your
device to connect wirelessly.
Transferring Data
Connect your device to a computer, via USB cable, to transfer
data as a Media device using MTP (Media Transfer Protocol),
or as a Camera using PTP (Photo Transfer Protocol).
1. Attach your phone to the computer with a USB data
cable. Your phone recognizes the connection as the
last connection method you used, and displays a
connection alert in the Status bar and Notifications.
2. From the Home screen, sweep your finger downward
to display Notifications, then touch the alert.
3. Select a connection method:
• Media device (MTP): Transfer media files with Windows, or
using Android file transfer on a Mac (see www.android.com/
filetransfer).
• Camera (PTP): Transfer photos using camera software, and
transfer files to computers that do not support MTP.
4. On your computer, choose a method for accessing your
device. Available options depend on the programs
installed on your computer.
5. Transfer files to the memory card. When finished, you
can disconnect the USB cable.

One problem is that you might not have the correct drivers to allow the phone and the computer to recognize each other. Using the computer, go to the Samsung Galaxy Stellar site and go to Support. On this page you should see a section titled Download. Click on this. There should be a list of items you can download, the manual, and drivers. I would go ahead and download all the drivers listed, one of them should be the driver you need. Once the drivers are downloaded and installed, Go ahead and connect the phone and pc with the USB chord. On the phone you will see the USB symbol on the Notification Bar. Pull it down and click on the symbol and choose MTP. On the PC, you should see a new letter to designate a new drive. This is your phone. Now you can go ahead and drag and drop any and all the files you wish.

Hi,
I was going nuts trying to connect my DROID 4 to transfer photos to my computer. No matter what I did, installing software, etc., the message was that the USB device was not recognized. Then I read in a forum that if you use the USB cord that is a Motorola brand, it would work. I had an LG cord. When I changed the cord to the Motorola cord, bingo - the computer recognized the device, I got the Droid icon on my phone, and now I can view the photos with Windows Explorer.
Good luck!!
