I'm sorry to hear about the error you are receiving on Verizon Cloud! I would love to resolve this for you. Are you attempting to backup media, contacts, or messages? Is there any other text in the error or just the code 4001? Are you connected to WiFi or the VZW Data network (4G or 3G)?
