I took a 11 second video with my samsung galaxie s5. It came out to be 23 MB. I can't send it via text message or by gmail. Is 23 MB too big?

Yes. Starting in the messages app and then either creating a video or attaching an existing one seems to work. It sends the video. Why doesn't samsung tell us that

The only way I have so far is to take a video while in messaging app and attach it will send. So I'm having to open my messaging app record a video if I think I'll need to mms someone it later.

yes, that's an enormous file for mms or even email. see my reply in this thread (3rd page of thread) :Droid Turbo won't send videos!!!
i explain your options. 1)shoot video in the messaging app 2)use a video compression app 3)upload video file to youtube or dropbox or something and then share the link to the video or file.
