A numerous amount of people are seeing the "Unfortunately Google Play Services Has Stopped" Error Message/Pop Up. There are several steps you can try to resolve this error message. This error seems to be tied with **OS: 6.0.1 / FW: G920VVRS4CPI2 / Google Play Services v: 9.8.77 (440-135396225) / Play Store v: 7.0.17.H-all [0] ** which was the newest update of Google Services. If you have this please execute the following steps to attempt to resolve. If you have success with any of the following steps, please comment back what fixed it.

The names or progression of settings depend on the model of phone - but generally will be the same.

Clear the Google Play Services Cache (Settings>Applications>Application Manager>Any Process that has Google in it, please clear the cache)

Clear the Google Framework Services Cache (Settings>Applications>Application Manager>Google Framework Services>Clear Cache)

Uninstall Google Play Services Updates (Settings>Applications>Applications Manager>Google Play Services>More>Uninstall Updates)

Update all applications (Google Play Store>My Apps and Games>Update All)

Settings>Lock Screen & Security>Other Security Settings>Phone/Device Administrators>Android Device Manager (TURN OFF)

Settings>Applications Manager>Google Play Services>Uninstall Update

Open Google Play and ensure all updates are up to date

Settings>Lock Screen & Security>Other Security Settings>Phone/Device Administrators>Android Device Manager (TURN ON)

I suspect this happens more often than not when the device is updating the Play Services application in the background then any other time.

Are you saying that you must update the application in the foreground and not leave the play store?? That's interesting.

No I am not saying that. I don't know how you could have come to that conclusion.

Both the Play Store and the Play Services updates automatically in the background. The only control one has is if you want to restrict it to wifi only for the update.

I have seen multiple times where the Play Services crashed and shortly after reporting it, I would see my Antivirus application pop up a notification saying that the Play Services was safe to open. Therefore I believe the Play Services crashed because It in use either by itself or for another application when the phone was also updated the app. To complete the update, the application had to be forcibly stopped which likely in turn caused the crash.

I wasn't really sure what you meant Ann154.

But I see what you mean with the deeper explanation with antivirus and force stopping the application/update. It does make sense and could be a reasonable explanation for the issue. Thanks for your input!
