not receiving notifications on Gear S when in stand-alone mode

Hello,

I have a Note 3 phone and 3 weeks ago purchased the Gear S. A huge draw for me was fact that I was supposed to be able to receive notifications on my Gear S when in stand-alone mode (not connected to my phone via bluetooth) which is the reason I added it to my account and paying the monthly fees for it. The notifications are then supposed to be transmitted to the Gear S by either the VZW or the Samsung network.

Well, this doesn't work. I've spent 3 weeks trying to make it work. I've even exchanged the first Gear S for another and having the same issue. I've jumped through so many hoops, apps, resets etc ... trying to make this happen that I'm dizzy. It's ridiculous.

Anyone else having this issue and more importantly if you had the problem and found a fix would you PLEASE share it? I want to keep this watch but if it doesn't do what it supposed to do it's a pretty expensive big bauble on my wrist and I can think of other places to spend the money I spent on this watch.

Thank you,

Deb

Hello ShaggyKids! I am glad that you have Note 3 and Gear S.
That is an excellent combination and should certainly work to have
notifications arrive on your Gear S from your phone. I do have a link from
Samsung here that shows how to pair and get the devices to work together. You
may already be familiar with this, but I wanted to include it just to cover all
our bases. http://bit.ly/1z7LQdY

Is your Gear app completely

up to date? What software version are you using on your Note 3? Here are the steps where you can see what version of software you have on your phone:

  • From a Home screen, tap Apps Applications icon (located in the lower right).
  • From the Apps tab, tap Settings.
  • Tap About phone.
  • View the Build number

Thanks in advance!
