Congratulations on your new Note 4, bigk40k! I'd be lost without my ability to get text messages, so let's get to the meat of the problem you're having. You've done some good troubleshooting so far! I'm curious to know if the persons that are sending messages to you are iPhone users. If so, they may not be using your mobile number to send those messages to you (instead, still using your now disabled Apple ID). You can test that by sending a text message to your own number. If you get it, that's a confirmation that you're able to receive. The next step would be to have one of your contacts send a text using just your 10 digit number.
