No sound at all after update. Volume settings and all music crashes instantly

Try this system cache clear.  This should help, if not, we can take more drastic steps.

Turn off phone

Remove the battery and reinsert.

Hold down the Home and Volume Up keys

Press and hold the Power button while still holding the other keys.

As soon as you see the Samsung logo, release all keys/buttons.

Press on the Volume Down to scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition.

Press the Power button to select it.

Press the Volume down button to highlight "Yes" and press the Power Button to select it.

Wait for a few minutes for the phone to clear the data.

Then press the Power button to select reboot system now.

Wait for your phone to reboot.

Didn't work.. I tried it earlier also. . And data wipe.  Worked for about 5 min after that then started crashing again

If you have already done a factory data reset, did you choose "Do not back up apps and app data" when you backup/reset?

Do you still have extended warranty?  If so, Verizon should replace it, if not, you might be offered Early Edge.  Otherwise it's a wait for the next update to 5.1 to fix 5.0.

Nope I'm prepay.  So that's all bad news. .. guess  it's time to get on the straight talk train
