I would like to be able to sync my phone with my calendar in windows 8.1. I like the ease with which I can move around in it and the fact that it syncs with my tablet. Not a real big deal, but it would be nice.

Is the windows calendar synced with your windows live calendar? If so then this is easy.

  1. First login to windows live and go to your calendar on the web. http://https://bay01.calendar.live.com/calendar/calendar.aspx
  2. Enable the Send people a view-only link to your calendar check box on the sharing page. Click the ICS link under Links that show event details.
  3. Select the link that appears and copy it to your clipboard (right-click the selected text and click copy.)
  4. Next, log into your Google account and open Google Calendar. Click the arrow to the right of Other calendars and select Add by URL.
  5. Paste the URL you copied earlier into the URL box. However, change the webcals:// at the beginning of the URL to http://. If you don’t make this change, Google Calendar will fail to understand the URL.
  6. Once you’ve done this, click Add Calendar and the calendar will appear in your Google Calendar account.

Google Calendar will automatically check the calendar for updates. Any changes you make in Windows Live Calendar will appear on your Google Calendar.

Keep in mind, your Galaxy S4 needs to have the calendar app syncing with Google Calendar in order for this process to work since the above steps are using Google's Server's to host the calendar events (as apposed to the calendar events being hosted locally on your device).

Well you need to be careful and check the settings very closely on the calendar app on the S4, because many times people don't realize they aren't seeing all the correct cloud calendars or when they make an event on their device, they are not saving the event to the cloud, they are saving the event to the local calendar. So dig around a little, and make sure when you make an event, see if there is a way to designate it on the Google Calendar or Cloud - it should have an area asking which calendar to sync the event with - this is where you would choose google. Then you would be able to see on computer. From here this is where you would take the Google Feed and share it with Windows Live Calendar, that way your windows 8.1 device has the calendar as well. I have done this many times and every device and app has a slightly different menu tree or GUI interface, so you will have to get brave and play around. But the concept is there - sync with the cloud, and you should be good. cheers
