My Samsung Galaxy S3 shut down without warning and won't restart. How do I transfer contacts from a dead phone?

Did you back them up to say your free Verizon cloud?

You can log into your Verizon account and go to My Verizon>My Device>Back up my contacts and look there to see if they were backed up automatically.

Log into your Google account on the phone you will be using if an Android.  Contacts will sync.
