rcschnoor, it appeared that Google Plus uploaded 1.79 GB of data. Like I said it was pre-installed so had no idea it was running or what it was, it was disabled after switch back to the Samsung. I had to switch phones untill I could find out where and what was causing the data usage. We filmed a video and it seems Google Plus uploaded it. These type apps should not come pre-installed. This could possibly be why the other posters data is being used up?

There is also a setting in Google+ so that it uploads items only via WiFi.

It's kind of hard to say a Google app should not come pre-installed on a Google OS phone. That's like saying iTunes should not come pre-installed on an iPhone. Just not going to happen.

One thing about Google+, it may come pre-installed on phones, but it will not start uploading items until it has been opened at least once by the user and the terms have been accepted. Anytime you open up an app, you should check to see what it does. In its welcome screen, Google+ informs you it automatically saves your photos/videos by uploading them to Google's servers. Anytime you see a statement like that, you should always check to see if there is a setting for WiFi uploading only. There normally is.Smiley Happy

I have all of my photos/videos backed up with Google+, but it is always done via WiFi.

It actually will, my mom has the G2 and last week within 2 hours she used 2 gigs of data in a matter of an hour because Google+ was trying to do something on her phone.

It actually will what? If you mean upload prior to at least opening up the app 1 time, I would have to disagree. Quite often when getting a new phone, people open up apps simply to see what they are. If nothing pops out at them when first opening up the app, they simply close it and move on. Can you say with certainty that this did not happen and the terms were not accepted??? Were you watching her that closely for the 2 hours she first had the phone. Does she remember that explicitly what she did with the phone in those first couple of hours. If so, she certainly has a better memory than I do.Smiley Happy

Possibly, if the app was used on her previous phone and your phone was set such that settings for the phone and apps were backed up, the same settings were loaded when initializing the phone. In this case, Google+ MAY have started working without opening up the app the first time, but I don't believe so. With apps I have used on other phones, I still had to start the app and accept terms before any data transfer took place.

Even when deleting an app or uninstalling all updates on a pre-loaded program, you must again accept the terms of service before the program starts working again after re-installing it.

She's had the phone since November and hasn't used that much data in a 1 month period prior to Google+. The only thing she may have done by accident was turn the auto sync option on on the phone which was linked to Google+. Her last phone was the DROID RAZR and at that time Google+ wasn't on it so it wouldn't have been the previous phone. She was at work when the data was being used, and she's not allowed to be on her phone while at work.

That is a great call out, Cruser2008. We want your mom to be happy with her purchase.  Does your mom use Google at all?

Verizon Support, you could resolve these issues very easy by not having these pre-installed apps on the phone in the first place. Saying we want your mom to be happy is pathetic. Stop putting the crap out there all it does is run up the bill on people, but I guess that is what the intention is, right?

Verizon doesn't put Google+ on the phone, if you want to complain about anything that has the name of Google on an Android phone complain to Google, not Verizon.
