"Soon" means after Verizon tests it, which could easily mean another month before we see the update.

They've officially stated by the end of the 1st quarter.  I realize it's cool to say that large corporations are evil and all, but I don't see a problem with them hitting that date.  They're definitely going to delay it to the very last second as NOTHING ever comes out ahead of schedule, but by the end of March should be easy.

I have a question for those all who are in despair about the update:

  • How many of you are qualified to give legit time frame as to how long an Android update for a layered UI take?
  • How many of you actually studied the coding for it to be aware of the actual process?
  • How many of you work in the IT departments in any wireless company to actually test out these updates?
  • How many of you actually work in any cellphone headquarters/industry at all to know that these phones take up a very small portion of a company's priority list, such as Verizon?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I am an Android developer. However, If you even as much as marginally read on different UI's, Android itself, the complexities of testing the phone and update with different types of service (4-0 Bars, 3G, 1X, etc), then you would know that it takes a little bit more than a month to thoroughly and correctly  test and serve this update to you.

And lets not forget Google just released the 2.1 APK what...a few weeks ago?

C'mon. Be fair and rational.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Just because Android is the center of our mobile device world, it doesn't mean that it is to HTC, or Verizon, Or Motorola.

Very sweet! I like the new homescreen options. I forget what they call that view where you can see thumbnails of all 7 homescreens at once and jump to the one you want, but I like it. I can hardly wait.

I still don't believe it.  If it were true, people on this forum would be getting their updates.

Until boygeniusreport.com reports it, there must not be sufficient substantiation!!

I would disagree that there isn't a way to force check for an update.  You can initiate the dialer (click phone) and enter *#*#checkin#*#* (*#*#2432546#*#*).  Within 30sec you'll get a notification in your Notification Bar reporting success or failure.  From everything that I've read, this will force your phone to check for a new update.

Well I did the *#*#checkin#*#* call thing and my result was success, does that mean anything?

Thanks.
