Will the QuadRooter Vulnerability be Patched?

CheckPoint Recently released an update to the ZoneAlarm Mobile Security scanner, and a scan of my long-time trusty phone with the new update, reveals, that it's supposedly vulnerable to a newly announced OS Vulnerability called "QuadRooter" (CVE-2016-2503, CVE-2016-2059, and CVE-2016-5340). SAupposedly, this has to do with hardware with certain QUALCOMM Chip Sets in them, and my phone evidently has the affected chipset, and system OS vulnerability.

Was wondering if either  Verizon or Motorola were aware of this newly announced security vulnerability, and if so, when they were planning on releasing a security patch  for the OS or an OS update for it for this model phone?

I have a Verizon Droid Razr Maax HD (XT926) running the latest OS Verizon released for it ( Android KitKat 4.4.2 - System Version is 182.46.15.XT926.Verizon.en.US)

I understand security is super important to everyone. However, only those which are side loading apps that they download from websites (not installing apps from the Play Store or other well known app stores) are vulnerable to this bug.

That said, as long as everyone executes common sense, even with a device that doesn't get patched, the chances of you having this vulnarbility exploited on your device, is slim.

Most devices released (flagship) within the past 12 months should be receiving the patch soon. I expect the galaxy devices will be updated next month when Samsung rolls out their next security update. Nexus devices have already been patched for 3 of the 4 vulnerabilities.

There's a good chance, if the phone is still running KitKat that it will not be receiving the patches to fix this vulnerability.

I absolutely understand everyone’s concern. We appreciate Google’s leadership in addressing the potential issue with security of the Android operating system. Our customers deserve the very best protection possible, so we’ll continue working with Google and handset makers to ensure that any security patches are available as soon as they’re tested and approved.

Thanks for the answer, Jennifer_H. Can you give us any estimates as to when security patches for the Quadrooter vulnerability might be rolled out?

It is highly unlikely they can provide an estimates.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
