Since the update, when my phone does charge, I only get the red X. I went to a Verizon store on the 3rd because my phone would not turn on that morning. After they rebooted it, they said I needed a new charger, so I bought one. Still getting the red x no matter what source I use: Plugging into wall, power strip, computer, using a Kindle Fire charger. It did not do this until my phone updated. Please Help!

Oh no! That definitely sounds aggravating LeahR82! Have you completed a full reset/restore on the device since your recent OS update? If not, please complete. Once this is completed please let us know if the issue persists, thanks!

What do I have to do for a full reset? I took it to a store and they did a
reboot for me. Is that the same thing? They told me it was my charger so I
bought a new one, but I'm still getting the red X. I'm recharging in safe
mode for now. Is there anything that is going to be done about the OS
upgrade that caused all this?

Hello LeahR82,
Your patience is greatly appreciated on this matter. We are committed to finding a resolution for you. I would suggest performing a full factory reset on the device. Before doing so, please verify that your contacts & other personal info is backed up. Also, did you buy a charger that was made by the manufacturer? If you can share the details then we can proceed.
Thank you…

Its the new kit Kat update. My phone is doing the same thing. I did a complete factory reset and it still wont charge properly. It takes forever to charge now and the battery drains very quickly. I have also used new chargers. Fix the update please!

I bought a USB Charger at a Verizon Wireless corporate store. How do I know
for sure everything has been backed up?

It seems a lot of people have charging problems post update to KK.
Are you trying anything other than the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Charger?
You might try a USB cable and a laptop port...

Yes. I was told that the problem was the charger that came with my phone
(OEM) so I bought a new one.
So far, it charges temporarily in the car (I sometimes get the black
lightning bolt) and on my work computer only. (also goes between black
lightning bolt and red x) However, this is in no way convenient as I can
not charge my phone at night and it's dead by morning.
Any chance I don't have to buy anything and the update will be fixed?

In your situation... I'd call Samsung. I would think a patch would fix it, but is one being prepared? Who knows? You have to be able to charge the device. Samsung should be notified the unit is now defective and force them to deal with it.
