I have also had this same problem on my S5.  I did not seem to care much about it until last night. This service has something to do with also connecting to 911 calls. Since there is this bug that causes the service to be stopped, I was unable to call 911. Verizon either needs to fix the problem ASAP or send out a bulletin alerting all customers. This is unacceptable to have customers unable to call 911.

1houndgal,

I am sorry you are receiving this message. We want to make sure we put an end to this message. The error message is in regards to Google update that was recently installed on the devices. Have you tried to Uninstall the update? Do to Settings>Application Manager>All>Google > Uninstall updates and force stop.

Verizon Wireless Customer Support As stated many times throughout the original thread Lindsey, all this so called "fix" does is mask the true nature of the problem. It's like telling someone who complains that they hear a rattle in their car to turn up the radio so they don't hear it anymore. Some people like to use Google+, so uninstalling the updates and not further updating takes away new features. Perhaps this isn't a 100% Verizon problem...maybe it resides in Google's court. However finger pointing only puts us...the paying customers...in the middle.

Many requests have been made for Verizon to simply confirm what the VZWAVSService is, what it does, and what programs and/or phone functionality depends on it. That way, if we the consumer decide we don't need that Verizon service, we can disable that instead. However these requests have been ignored by Verizon Wireless Customer Support. Why is information regarding this service seemingly such a secret?

I wish I could LIKE your response more than just once.  Verizon should give us this information so we can make an informed choice.

For what it's worth, I started getting this message today after I went hog wild with CleanMaster, disabling apps. I'm a big boy, and I knew what I was getting into.

If I isolate a specific dependency, I'll let you know.

It looks like using Clean Master was just a coincidence. I used Clean Master to re-enable everything I'd turned off, and it made no difference.

I uninstalled the Google+ updates, and the message went away. I reinstalled the Google+ updates, and I didn't even have to reboot the phone (Samsung GS3): The message popped right up when the installation finished.

I just started having this problem today, on my new Samsung G5.  Because of it, I cannot send messages.  I've tried rebooting and taking the battery out, clean master, disabling Google+, etc, but nothing is making a difference.  This needs FIXED!

This is the first I have heard of any messages being prevented from sending. What kind of messages?

Just general text messages.  I seem to be able to receive them though, and get calls.  I always get an error saying 'messages not sent', and it started at the same time as the 'Unfortunately, VZWAVSService has stopped', which is why I was assuming they are connected.
