The latest update for the Verizon Note 2, which i guess is a Canada roaming update, can not install. keeps giving me an error message. Did everything, factory reset (which sucked), took out SIM, power down, etc. can i get rid of this alert?

I'd be happy to answer that! From your home screen, press the menu button and touch "Settings." Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and select "About phone." On top you will see "Software Update." Touch that and then touch "Check New." The phone will check for updates and then download and install.
