Voicemail notification is stuck on Samsung Galaxy 5

I'm guessing that is a "yes, I checked in app>voice mail and deleted even the deleted e-mails." you can turn your airplane mode on for a minute and then back off; that will reacquire the network and it might be something on their end.

No luck.  I did all that and even turned my phone off.  It's still there.

Bummer. You can Google the issue; it seems to be pretty common. I know I've experienced, but generally one of those fixes it.
