I need to be able to hit the voicemail icon in the pulldown screen when I have a voicemail and have it dial the *86 to access my voicemail. The icon used to do that but now it takes me to some visual voicemail that charges a fee and I don't want that. If I am traveling, I used to be able to hit the one button and enter my code and hear my voicemail. Now I have to hit multiple buttons and argue with the phone and this is distracting if I happen to be on the road. How can I get this UNWANTED and UNREQUESTED feature that you graciously installed as bloatware on my phone removed?

you can set a vm widget icon on your screen and remove the vvm and put it down in app drawer.

I don't think that's what the original poster was asking. If I'm understanding correctly, I'm having the same problem.
I don't subscribe to Visual Voicemail and I don't want to. What I want is to stop Visual Voicemail from sending notifications when I have voicemail activity, and just get a notification from basic voicemail that I can tap on and automatically dial *86 for voicemail. On my previous Verizon phones, that is what happened. On my new phone, a Samsung Note Edge running Android 5, if I get a voicemail it is Visual Voicemail that sends the notification, and the only thing that happens when I tap that notification is a series of options to sign up for VV. It never takes me to plain basic voicemail.
So: does anyone know what setting we need to change on our phones to have voicemail notifications that do not involve Visual Voicemail, but just take us directly to the phone with *86 dialed automatically? Thanks!
