Verizon Cloud Won't Back Up Automatically

My wife and I just upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and really like the phones.  The only issue we have faced is with the Verizon Cloud.  It has settings whereby you can update automatically by the hour, by the day, or by the night.  However, ours only updates manually.  We have disabled the app on the phones and reenabled and rebooted.  The app still only updates manually.  We have also tried the auto update feature while on wifi only and while on wifi and mobile networks.  While this is not a signficant issue since manual backups work,we are nevertheless wondering if others have experienced this.

What are you trying to backup?  I would recommend NOT using Verizon Cloud for a myriad of reasons. I would change all contacts to Google Contacts and let Google flawlessly back them up. I would use Google or Dropbox for pics and other items you want to back up and disable Verizon Cloud.

    There is a setting of when to back up. But there is also a setting on what to back up. Could this possibly be what you have selected in there to back up? For example you could be set to back up hourly etc. But not have photos, videos etc. selected?

   Can you post these so called myriad of reasons? I've been using it for the past 2 months and Verizon Cloud has been excellent.

Verizon Cloud will:

Arbitrarily delete contacts and move them to the trashcan which removes them from your phone

at times not be able to complete a backup so it continues to run using battery and data

mix up multiple contacts by changing the numbers around, putting address 1 from contact 1 as address 1 for contact 2

delete some of the numbers from a contact

freeze and not let you in

not let you view your pictures at times

cause you to have to do a factory data reset when some of the above happens

give you strange error messages such as account does not exist

   Have not experienced any of these issues mentioned or any issues at all while using Verizon Cloud on a Droid Maxx with Android 4.4.4 and have not seen numerous post on this forum with complaints in regard to Verizon Cloud.

  Verizon has well over 100 million customers so there has to be millions of them using it. I would say most customers are using it, they'd have to be it comes installed on the phone, what a nice software Verizon is giving out for free.

If it works for you that is great. I have seen hundreds of complaints on this board alone about it and more on other boards as well.   It did not work for me and a lot of people I know.  Verizons solution was to replace the phone a few times because they could not figure it out either.  When I stopped using it and used only Google, I had no problems at all.  By the way, the Google stuff is also free, provides you with a lot more cloud storage and already exists on your phone as well.  Default from the factory on these phones is contacts are saved as Google contacts using the Google backup!!

  Come on Verizon replaced phones cause they could not figure out Verizon Cloud, lol too funny!

Yes they did. They figured the phone was defective if it would not work with their cloud
