Using pin to remove back cover Motorola Droid Max

I have a new Motoroloa Droid Max and am overseas and can't get the cover off to install the SIM card. I see where the pinhole is, but nothing happens when I stick a pin into it. Help!

The SIM card slot is behind the volume rocker. It should have been described in the Get Started Guide you got with the phone. http://www.droid-life.com/2013/08/19/tip-sim-card-on-the-droid-ultra-is-hidden-in-the-volume-rocker/
