Yes, but that also means that vzw has no contract with you and at some point can change or suspend your service at will

No, that is exactly wrong. He stated that unlimited "ended" in July 2011 and therefore all unlimited data customers would be out of contract by July 2013. That was only true for new customers. Existing customers who signed a "new" plan could lock in unlimited data until June 2014.

Yes, but existing customers could renew their plans in Summer of 2012. That was in conjunction with the release of the Samsung Galaxy SIII. SO many people who picked up the SIII on release were reneweing or extending their contracts until 2014 with unlimited data. I also did not "complain" about the unlimited data going away.

Please, try to keep up with what is being discussed.

I am try reading what I QUOTED what YOU said. So enough with the snide remarks.

No they can't.  A contract does not lock in your data "feature."  Verizon can discontinue unlimited data for everyone tomorrow if they want.  Paying full retail price for a phone does not lock in unlimited data for 2 years.  However, Verizon will have a terrible public relations problem if they pull the rug out from under us before July 2014.

I have 4 lines all grandfathered in to the unlimited plan and VZW is doing everything the can to switch me.  All 4 of us have contracts ending this year but I don't plan on making any changes.  My son's iPhone 4 crapped out on him last week so we had it replaced under the warrenty plan. They had no iPhone 4 32 gb available so they shipped him a refurbished 5 32 gb and he is extatic about it.  It really is a nice phone if you like the iPhone.

Then comes VZW in with their trickery. They sent an e-mail with the account change confirmation and guess what, they changed him to the 2 gb plan. I called customer support and they pushed hard to get me to switch to the new plans but I politely declined. They put him back on the unlimited after a loooong hold. Something about getting approval from a supervisor and filling out a form.

Funny thing is that they did this to me when I traded my 4s with someone for a Galaxy S3 last year.  They said the same thing abd claimed it was done in error.  Funny how that happens!

I'm not going down without a fight.

No one said anything about full price locking in a data plan. Those who entered a NEW 2-yr agreement in June 2012 are under contract with unlimited until June 2014.

Sure they can. Which would let us all exit our contracts with no penalty. Why do you think VZW has not done so already? If the substantially change anything that is currently under my agreement with them, it would end the contract.
