Unable to watch Netflix

I've been unable to watch Netflix movies on either of my Android phones and I like ideas as to how to fix this problem. First of all, here are the essential facts:

Phone 1: Samsung galaxy S III running android 4.1.1

Phone 2: Motorola Droid X2 running android 2.3.5

I have an active netflix account and have downloaded and installed the Netflix app from google play store for each phone without issue. I'm able to login to my account on the phones and browse movies without issue. I've done this while using the 3G and 4G network as well as my home broadband wireless network. The problem arises when I attempt to watch any content, after a delay of about 1 minute I get the following message:

"Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problem persists please visit the Netflix website. (0041)"

Additional, possibly relevant facts:

I have no problems watching netflx movies on my home computer. My daughter, using my netflix account information can watch movies without issue on her Verizon/IPhone. I've uninstalled, cleared cache and application data, powered off, then reinstalled the neflix app multiple times. I've contacted Verizon and Netflix technical support twice and after repeating the same "uninstall/power off/reinstall" routine without effect, both end up point the finger at each other. I'd post this on the Netflix support blog but they don't have one.

If everyone on the plan makes sure that the mobile network "button" is turned off on their phone, and the wifi "button" is turned on, all of them can use the internet, let alone netflix, without worrying the least bit about using up any of that 2gb.

I also cannot connect when away from wifi, or sometimes it will but will disconnect.  I have the Razr Maxx, I have unlimited data, I have tried in both 3G and 4G areas, Netflix says it's not their problem and Verizon wants me to factory default my phone - I shouldn't have to do this as I'm not having problems with any other apps (ie, Hulu Plus which used to be the worst for connecting and is now the easiest).

Any ideas before I factory default?  I'd like to connect for when I'm in town away from Wifi or carpooling or waiting at the doctor's office . . . .

Forgot to add that I get two other codes as well besides the 0041.  13007 and I can't remember the other one right now.

I just tested my Droid Razr Maxx on 4G and was able to connect to Netflix with no problems.

Sound like a bad 'hop' getting to the site.

Much like my works employee web site. Using the VZW connection, I never make it, there is a bad 'hop' along the way. Any other connection, I can get into the site without an issue.

I had this issue with my Kindle HD using FIOS wireless.  I cleared the application's cache - Applications/Installed Apps/Netflix/clear cache.  Initially this did not resolve it, but after I shutdown and restarted the Kindle, Netflix was working again.
