Too many pattern attempts

My son was playing with my Verizon LG and apparently tried to break my pattern code too many times.  It now asks me to sign in with my google account, but after typing the info in a bazillion times all I get is Invalid Username or password.  Any advise out there to help me do anything to this issue cleared up? I don't care if I have to do a factory reset, but don't know how to even do that with a locked phone.

What LG phone. They make different models.

to get into recovery mode combination is

home button + power on

in recovery touch does not work so use volume up to scroll up, volume down to scroll down, home to select and power key to go back.

I believe the model # is LG-VS66OV.  I tried what you suggested, but nothing happens.

With the phone off, hold down the power button, home key and down volume keys at the same time. When the LG logo appears, let go of only the power button. When the android appears, let go of the other 2. When it comes back on it'll be at factory default settings.
