The power of Android, the usability of HTC Sense and the reliability of our 3G network have all come together to create one incredible device: the new DROID Incredible by HTC.  It's hot and it's HERE! http://phones.verizonwireless.com/htc/incredible/

  1. HTC Sense makes the device sing – The DROID Incredible by HTC is up to date with the newest version of HTC Sense. You may have seen Sense in action on the HTC Droid Eris, and seen how it makes the Android experience even more fun and easy. But this is the latest version of HTC Sense, and it has some great new tricks up its sleeve including Leap, which allows you to pinch the home screen for thumbnail access to all 7 screens at once or long touch to easily access your recently used applications.

  2. While Android 2.1 helps it rock – Loaded with the most up-to-date Android software, the DROID Incredible by HTC supports all of the great Google services that make Android devices so great – Google Maps and Navigation, Google Goggles, Google Earth and You Tube.  Want apps?  The Android Market has just gone over 30,000 apps, so the DROID Incredible by HTC can be customized to fit any need.

  3. Become a pro in a snap – Use the 8-megapixel camera, built-in flash and long list of settings to adjust the color, brightness, and style to help you capture incredibly crisp images.  Then, thanks to seamless integration with Exchange ActiveSync, Flickr, and many Google applications, you can share those images in a flash – just snap your picture and hit share, and in one step – you can upload the image to your favorite social networking site or directly via email.  Your friends and photos have never looked so good!

  4. It’s “Friend”-ly – The DROID Incredible by HTC has a new social networking feature called Friend Stream, which allows you to consolidate all of your feeds, like Twitter, Flickr and Facebook, into a continuous stream of updates. So instead of opening individual applications for each social networking site, you just use Friend Stream.

  5. Can you say fast? -  The transitions from screen to screen, the responsiveness of the keyboard, the speed of the camera are all FAST. That’s because of the 1GHz Snapdragon processor that is powering the DROID Incredible by HTC. There is also a ton of memory inside – we’re talking 8 GB of internal memory. That’s more power than an average laptop had just a few years ago!

How is the quality of the speakerphone on this device? I was going to get the Nexus One when it came out for Verizon until I heard many reviews stating the sound was poor and below average for it. I'm hoping the speakerphone on the Incredible is much louder and clearer than the N1.

Will the Incredible also be offered with a 1 year contract and if so, would you be able to provide the cost?

Its nice that verizon is working hard on more smartphones, but now that the rest of us are forced to pay a mandatory data plan how about verizon works on some decent simple feature phones?  That is what customers are waiting for!!  Verizon needs quality, decent looking feature phones with touch screens - a good camera(3.0) and qwerty keyboards.

When will you be announcing something like this Mark?

Blah forget the basic featured phones. Lets get everyone into smartphones so we can get the costs lowered and move forward. People always want to hold on to crap. Which is why the Postal Service is still running itself into bankruptcy. Old tech sucks. The next person who asks me to fax it to them is going to get strangled. :smileyvery-happy:

Yeah, it's an unfortunate truth for many. The old tech is going to go away before we know it, probably only available to corporations for bulk use like what happened to pagers. It's kind of a bummer because so many people just really don't want the stuff offered by the new tech. I can see the frustration for those folks though.

Yeah that would be great!  But how would you like to pay $1800 more a year for five lines to have smartphones - when you are already paying top dollar for a family plan with alot of minutes & unlimited texting!  Verizon offers no family plans with data - its just $30 more a month per phone!  Technology is great, but this cost is unreasonable.

I'm looking forward to the Incredible, I better be for the whopping $250 some dollars I had to spend to get it.  Mind you, I did buy $60 in accessories.

It was sad though, Verizon is so about the community when in reality, I've been with Verizon for well over five years, currently with two phones and a family plan.  I tend to buy the more spendy phones and rarely wait for my new every two thing to expire before I get another yet I always feel like I’m being punished for buying a phone on Verizon.  It feels like I'm being bamboozled in to a purchase and even though I've been a pretty loyal customer (with a big mouth) that counts for nothing and actually kind of goes against me.  At least here, even a new subscriber will have to pay as much as me but then what is the point of loyalty – that’s called a contract not loyalty (don’t get it wrong people).

I'm sure the phone will be great; I'll finally get away from my Microsoft scare tactic phone which works about as well as Windows itself.  I felt like I’ve been haunted by a Microsoft for the past year and half, everywhere I go.  I just wish that in these cases (new phones coming out – new service, etc) being a loyal customer meant something.  Heck I can use that term at Qwest and they start bending over backward to help! Here, you could get yelled at ... wait, I saw that happen at a Verizon store recently, someone got yelled at by a store employee for declaring themselves a loyal customer.

Why would they?  There is no incentive to Verizon to improve the feature phones much past where they already are.  There is no ROI there.

The ROI is keeping those poeple with them that don't want the frills of the newer phones. It is also minimal cost as far as phones go for these type of users. The biggest thing is that the pressure you to get a data plan. I think they should reopen the per KB option. Many people will find the $30 a better deal, but there are others that can use the data through wi-fi more often so they could benefit, while otheres who don't use it at all would be able to get a newer phone and find the benefits of them that way, instead of being forced onto the data plan. A non winmo, android, web OS, palm or crackberry phone would fit those users. That leaves only a couple options, os it is restrictive there.

The droid eris will be receiving a Android OS 2.1 update in the next few months according to my contact at HTC.  He states that it is in the final approval stage for release.  And a representative that I called also confirms that there will be a update!
