Verizon only needs to advertise the options they have IF they have advertisements for a phone. As I said previously, I don't think Verizon advertises any of their phones with features which they don't actually have. If you point out some links on Verizon's website which say their phones have something they don't actually have, I am obviously mistaken.

I didn't say Verizon advertised features that were omitted.  I was making a comparison as to how one industry highlights differences and Verizon does not.  Again, I did not say Verizon advertised features if the features are not available.  This current advertising practice leaves one to think that an LG G4 on any carrier is the same as the stock LG G4.

I guess i get that, and if it wasn't for the fact that i've been with

verizon for 14 years and i moved to sticks i would probably switch to

T-Mobile or AT&T. With that said I feel this is false advertising. Say

what you want in your comparison to buying a car, this is different. We are

buying a product that has a specific model number. The model is the

manufacturers model number. If you buy a TV the model numbers are

sometimes different depending on retailer which makes it clear that there

may be feature or spec differences between the models. When you buy a cpu

the model numbers are the same and you can add or remove features and it is

clearly indicated what is stock verses what has been adjusted. When you

buy a car the vehicle stock offering from the manufacturer is listed and

then any additional features are listed separately, never is a stock

feature removed. Enhanced or replaced at a premium, but not just removed.

In my opinion by failing to disclose features and specs that have been

removed, Verizon is selling me a phone that is not what I ordered. I can

understand the game, but it seems deceptive.

I disagree with this statement. There is no reason to point out the differences in a model of phone which is slightly different than the same model on another carrier. They advertise what THEY carry. Why give free ad time for other carriers by advertising what phones other carriers sell? Verizon has always advertised mainly on their network. I don't foresee that changing any time soon. They advertise a phone and the capabilities it has. Period.

For the most part, what makes a Verizon phone more appealing than another carrier's phone is the network on which it is used. If you want the features which OTHER carriers advertise, yet Verizon does NOT offer NOR advertise, go with the other carrier. It is that simple.

I'll refer to my last reply.  A disclaimer of some sort would be nice as it is easier to see what is included rather than what isn't.  Yes, a lot of assumption takes place, but in a world where we all want to know what we are getting, reading it in an open and honest way on a seller's site is much more straight forward than having to research other people's trials and errors.  Still, I get that "If it isn't mentioned don't assume it is included" is correct, but really, if I want to buy a G4 and all I have to go on is what LG says is included with the phone (despite it being advertised on their site with their offerings) I want to know if the carrier is matching or altering the same offerings as LG.  Again, I get it...Verizon can advertise and use any description they want, but to me at least, it is dishonesty through omission.  Of course, I research and don't buy release day, but there are people who don't and then get the surprise.

Yes it is deceptive if LG offers the same model number with differing features, if this is the case.

Unfortunately, LG DOES sell these devices as different model #'s which you can see at the following website.

LG G4 - Full phone specifications

Listed on this page would be the following model #'s.

Available versions: H815 (EMEA), H815TR (Turkey), H815T (Hong Kong), H815P (LATAM, South Africa), H812 (Canada), H810 (AT&T), H811 (T-Mobile), LS991 (Sprint), VS986 (Verizon), US991 (US Cellular)

Not that a comprehensive list would be nice. VZW did provide a comprehensive list, and they did it without caring what the OEMs were doing or not doing. I'm sure i wasn't the only one who would read the comprehensive list to help in the purchasing decision.

The fact that VZW stopped providing the comprehensive list comes as no surprise to me. I understood and accepted a long time that VZW isn't exactly a consumer friendly company.

Verizon does not alter the offerings, LG alters the offerings. LG sells the G4 under many different model numbers depending on where it is sold and/or by which carrier. The simple answer is to simply look at what you are purchasing. Possibly LG should be more specific on the differences in the varying G4 models, but Verizon only needs to advertise what is available on the model Verizon sells. They shouldn't have to point out the differences between their model of G4 and the other 9 versions of G4 which LG sells. That should be the responsibility of LG.Smiley Happy

So, LG alters the offerings based upon what Verizon wants.  Got it.

Or for what features Verizon is willing to pay.

Absolutely LG provides what Verizon wants on their phones. As a result, it is listed as a different model number in LG's database. IF LG is going to offer different versions of the same phone LG maybe should not run ads with features which are not on ALL versions. Verizon is only responsible for ads which Verizon runs and those ads should only be required to show features which Verizon offers.Smiley Happy Verizon should not pay millions of advertisement dollars to spotlight features OTHER providers may or may not have on their phone. That would simply increase MY Verizon bill, which I would not want to happen.Smiley Happy

I would like to believe that Verizon/VZW knows that there's a difference between profit and greed. l would like to believe that when Verizon/VZW orders a phone without certain features and/or functions it's because they'll literally lose money.

If no money is lost. If it's a wash. Then i say. Shame on you Verizon/VZW!
