Text messaging with Ford Sync stopped working after JB 4.1.2 upgrade

I see several threads about this issue dating back to March of 2013 or so, but I see no solutions so I'm creating a new thread.  Text messaging through Ford Sync was working fine until the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 upgrade, ever since then my Droid 4 is "unsupported" according to Sync.  I have two 2011 Fords, and Escape and an F150, it stopped working on both at the same time.  Ford says there are no updates to Sync that need to be applied.

If this is a shortcoming of 4.1.2, is there any way to revert to the previous OS version that actually worked?  Or does Verizon and/or Motorola have any plans to fix this bug?

If you have a Motorola phone that no longer supports hands free texting after upgrading to 4.1.2, such as the Droid4, you can contact Motorola support to obtain a free replacement phone. There is no resolution for this issue on some Motorola devices, so, they are replacing them for those that complain. You have to reach Level 3 support at Motorola.

Motorola has devices that support hands free SMS texting (known as the Bluetooth MAP protocol), such as the Droid Razr M and the Droid Razor HD among others.

Be patient with support, expect the process to take a week, but, you'll get another phone and can continue to use this feature.

Good Luck!
