Switching SIM card across devices

If I purchased an ASUS Transformer Pad TF300TG which has SIM support (LTE, 3G, etc) could I take the SIM card out of my Galaxy S3 and use my Verizon mobile data plan in the tablet in case I'm ever in a situation where Wi-Fi is not available?

Thanks!

Of course you CAN. It's your device and your SIM after all. In most countries it's no big deal and it usually works just fine. Here in the US, there may or may not be issues, especially with Verizon, since thy only started using SIMS when LTE came out. Phone plans and data plans are sort of different, so how that affects the provisioning of your SIM when you change device types like that I can't say for certain. Might work fine, Verizon might say you can't do that, might work on tablet and not work anymore when you put it back in the phone, in which case you'd have to get a new SIM. And who knows how verizon might throw a fit about THAT.

I hate the way wireless is set up in this country I really do. In other countries, networks interoperate, spectrum is shared, phones are carrier-unlocked, you buy them in stores like you buy toasters, phone first, then carrier second, so no SIM issues. Here it's the other way around, and phones are gimped, locked, phone features are "charged for" and SIM transfers have issues.

I'm assuming the tab is Verizon branded? If not, then your plan won't work. However, another option would be to Wi-Fi tether. If you are on a data share plan, it's free.

Hi donellacandra,

That is a wonderful question. I know how important it is to have a mobile data connection. I have great news. If both your smartphone and table use the same type of sim card you can definitely swap the sim card and use it to connect your tablet to our data network.

Keep in mind that you will continue to pay for your data and voice plan per the terms of your agreement. The data usage on the tablet would deduct from the smartphone's data allowance.

Let us know if you have any other questions.
