So today February 27th, 2012, my phone the android samsung continuum, did an automatic update and i hit download. after installing and restarting my phone now it does not work. it does not let me view or send text messages only a black screen comes up, it vibrates every 3 minutes, goes on airplane mood without my doing, tells me "process system is not working..." then it gives me two options to "force close" or "wait" which both do nothing.

HELP!

Have you tried taking out the battery, waiting about a minute or two, then replacing it and reboot? If this doesn't work, it sounds like a trip to your local Verizon store is needed.

That did not and will not fix it, and Verizon knows it! It is Verizons fault for allowing such a harmful download to go out in their name. There need to be a class action law suit about this.

I'm right there also with my Continuum.  Worked completely fine until the update.  SAME issues you're having.  Got a new one shipped to me & activated it.  It worked fine until it auto-downloaded the Froyo update 20 mins later.  Now it is just as bad.  Everything I try to do "stops unexpectedly" and needs to "force close"   Also vibrating for no reason and the battery goes dead in 1-2 hrs. I have done 3 factory resets already and it did not help.   I am on the phone with Verizon tech support now (again).  There were apparently TWO updates released at the same time.  One for software, one for hardware.  He had me checked my system updates on my phone.  Not sure if I received both.  He is on Samsung's website and told me he is shocked at the amount of activity on their site, in regards to this update.  I am holding while he calls Samsung directly.

I was misinformed- The 2.2 Froyo software update was released and right after a "patch" for it was released. (same day)   Samsung has no plans for a patch and doesn't seem too concerned about the issue Smiley Sad

  The problem may be in the order the phone got them- ie: the "patch" first, then the full update????  Anyway- they are overnight shipping me another Continuum.  Will see when it updates if it works this time, or not.

Same here! My phone was just fine before the update and now it sucks! It freezes all the time, the battery drains even faster now and i cant delete pictures from my gallery! The worst part is that i cant upgrade until december so i'm stuck with this piece of junk until then. Fsntastic. Thanks verizon for screwing up a perfectly good phone!

Hello happy community members,

The Samsung Continuum is a device that is designed to get more information to the user as fast as technologically possible. This is done by using the ticker display! With the second screen displaying information as it becomes available, it is the perfect device for people who want to stay in the know. As of 2/14/12, the Samsung Continuum has received a software update, of which most of you have received. As with any Android software update, I recommend performing a factory reset on the device to resolve any issues triggered by the update. Below is a link on the steps on the factory reset.

As always, it's encouraged to back up all of your contacts and calendar entries prior to completing the reset. Backup Assistant is an excellent app for backing up your contacts. Calendar entries can be archived using your Gmail account. Once you have completed the factory reset, the device will need to be reactivated. As you go through the activation tutorial, please test call voice and data services prior to re-downloading apps to the device. If you are still having issues with the update then please reply to this message for additional assistance.
