Since the kitkat VIRUS was forced onto my phone, it's been almost rendered useless. I'm a truck driver and frequently use Google maps/navigation which causes my phone to overheat..thus shutting down apps that I'm currently using. If I don't keep an eye on it, it will eventually shut the phone down entirely.

I'm due for a phone upgrade but until this issue is fixed, Verizon won't be seeing a new 2 year contract from me!

At the LEAST, let us all roll back to jellybean!

Tidbits, would you please refrain from your troll behavior and step down from your soapbox. Thank you.

I will remind you that the Original Post is to list complaints, not make excuses for Verizon. The problems are affecting the "service" that we pay Verizon for, and therefore it is the responsibility of Verizon to ensure a consistent level of service.

Verizon should be the ones speaking to Google, etc on behalf of us, the consumer.

Tidbits please start your own thread and speak on whatever topic you desire. You have added nothing relevant to this discussion which I will remind you, again, is to share complaints about the recent KitKat automatic update.

On that topic I would like to add that I am no longer able to use my SD card as a storage location for certain apps, so now my SD card is all but useless. I am not able to use the features of my phone as before KitKat, and I still don't see Verizon offering any solutions.

The phone is affecting the SERVICE that Verizon provides, however the phone is not made by Verizon Wireless.

The coding from Google/Samsung has made a device that once worked to be non functional on many levels.

This is not Verizon's fault.

Verizon as a retailer handles the warranty issues. They are not obligated to do so. Best Buy, Walmart, Costco,

or any other retailer will not warrant the device after 15 days.

You would not be yelling and complaining to them for a faulty OS update.

They like Verizon sell the devices, the returns are your responsibility.

I wish Verizon would just provide the service and have customers handle the warranty issues through the device makers themselves.

Additionally get off your soap box of misinformation and agitation to make a HELP forum into a HATE VERIZON forum.

Tidbits has given factual information, has countered all the complaints listed with facts not fantasy.

And since this is a HELP forum your wanting the poster to stop trolling is totally out of place. I submit it is you that is trolling to garner negative response.

Your issue lies with Samsung, go to their web portal and post your issues. They made the device they have the responsibility to fix it.

You don't have to be a fan of Verizon Wireless to know what is right and what is wrong. Your whole conception of what Verizon Wireless is responsible for is a total misconception.

They provide access to the cellular and data network that is all. The device not functioning is the owners responsibility through the device maker.

Good Luck

I had more and more issues since the upgrade hit my phone in late May.  The most recent, which might not even be a software update issue, was the charger cord not working.  The phone gave a message to use to original charger cord or the charging would be very slow.  Since the phone had so many other issues, tech support sent me a new phone.  Samsung Note 3 (it was still under warranty).

Now I know that the cord WAS faulty, but when I was setting up the replacement phone, it downloaded a software update.  I stopped it from installing the update, but I had to choose WHEN it would install - I couldn't go days in the future, so I set it for 7pm this evening.  I hope I can delay it again, as it seems from these forums there is no fix sent out yet to repair the damages of the kitkat 4.4.2 installation.

The issues I was having before replacing the phone were...

My texts not reaching my friends/family.

Calls to me were not going to voicemail.

Photo quality had decreased.

Camera wouldn't always work.

The phone would freeze a lot when I tried to use it.

Alarm settings would change without me initiating them to change.  Not fun losing sleep.

Wifi would no longer stay connected

Mobile network would no longer stay connected either

(I don't use swype, navigation or an SD card, so I can't comment on those issues)

Hardly any bars for normal verizon connection in areas where I always got connection.

I might as well not have a phone, really.  I'm curious, if this happens again on this phone, will they give me the option for a different phone - iPhone, Windows or Blackberry?  Not that those are great, but they are better than THIS.

Verizon is the one responsible for enforcing the encrypted bootloader locking, which in turn is preventing you from freely downgrading the OS.  On top of that, even though Google coded the kernel, Verizon should have fully tested this before sending it out to everyone.  Its more than apparent that anyone running this update would have realized all the issues if they use a phone to call, text, use wifi and bluetooth on a regular basis throughout a day on a single charge.  If Verizon was not enforcing exactly what gets put on the phones and how it functions then sure I'd gladly let them off the hook, until then they are responsible for this mess they dumped onto everyone.

The only "official" way to get a working phone back is to complain loud enough with the manufacturer and pray they send you a replacement with Jelly Bean.  Even then you still have to constantly decline the broken Kitkat update Verizon keeps trying to shove back.

Even the ones without encrypted bootloaders can't be downgraded. If you do there is a high chance your trip your Knox flag and/or make Knox brick your phone.

Samsung intended for no one to downgrade.

All,

If you have posted a complaint here, be sure you also open a ticket with Verizon Customer Support.  They are compiling the issues to feed back to the manufacturers.  You may also open a ticket with the manufacturers (as I have),  and if your problem is with Kit Kat, spell it out and report it to Google.

The reason for this is I got way more traction by complaining to Verizon than going it alone and I think the sheer number of complaints regarding Kit Kat is starting to turn the tide.

It may seem as if nothing is happening but believe me, things are being worked, they (all of the above I mentioned) need to hear from you to keep it going.

Where does one file a complaint with Google?  I couldn't find anything online.  If you can post a link that would be great help!

Making excuses?  So you are telling me Sony, Motorola, HTC, and Google are making the SAME excuses?

Verizon doesn't have to do anything other than fixing their services if their services break not beg for fixes on your behalf.  This is one of the reason WHY Europe gets updates sooner, and more often.  Another reason why is because our updates have to go through more licensing than Europe does.

Google's code... deal with it.  Don't like it talk to Google.  Don't want to talk to Google void your warranty and change the code.  It's not Verizon who has a say in what Google does.  Do you think Google will listen to any manufacturer?  Oh did you know Google has more power than the manufacturers?  You have more power to affect Google than the manufacturers do...

Everything I have been saying is relevant.  Just because you don't like what I say doesn't mean it is irelevant.  It just means you don't like the truth.  I think you need to step down from your soapbox and start doing what Europe does if you want fixes.  They must be doing something right if they are getting the support YOU want right? right...
