I found that I was able to fix the problem by making sure that all apps
with "ANT" in them were up to date. It effects your ability to connect to a
router.

I had same problem. all of a sudden my galaxy s5 can't connect to work wifi. it works fine at home though.
I chatted to verizon wireless techsupport but he said I need to contact to IT person at work since it is wifi problem.
After googling for days I found out the solution which perfectly working to me.

Here is how you have to rectify the problem of your WiFi not connecting to your Mobile Phone:
1. Go to “Settings”
2. Go to “WiFi”
3. Click on WiFi Network
4. Click on “Forget”
5. Click on your WiFi Network again.
6. Click on “Advance Option” or Click on the 2 check boxes.
7. Type your WiFi Password.
8. Scroll down to where the option is either DHCP or Static.
9. Click on “Static”
10. Enter your BSNL Broadband IP Address (computer’s IP address). You need to enter only IP Address and Default gateway as shown below.
IP Address: 192.168.1.101
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
11. Click OK button. When you are done doing the above technical steps, you will find your WiFi get connected to your Mobile Phone.
AP stands for “Access Point”. A wireless Access Point (AP).
When I go to settings, wi-fi, then click on the 3 dots in top right corner, the only thing I can click on in the drop box is: Advanced and Help. The rest of the list is greyed out. This is fucking bullshit and I am tired of Verizon and Samsung.
